Treatment Services at Montecatini

Since 1991, we have successfully treated hundreds of adolescent and adult women, ages 12 and up, with severe eating disorders and have become nationally recognized for providing care at this level. The key to our success is having a staff that is highly experienced in treating adolescent and adult women with eating disorders and associated disorders, an intensive, structured and dynamic program and a high staff-to-patient ratio. These key components allow us to deliver the personalized care necessary for recovery.

Montecatini offers a range of treatment services in order to provide the most comprehensive programming based on the individual needs of each patient. These services include: initial assessment and consultation, clinical assessment, medical/ psychiatric care, individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy, and nutrition therapy.

LEVELS OF CARE

Intensive Residential Program
Admission to the Intensive Residential Program is based on the recommendations reached during the initial and clinical assessments and consultations. This program is designed to disrupt the dysfunctional patterns of individuals with eating disorders. A maximum of twelve patients are enrolled in this program at any given time.

Once the individual arrives at Montecatini, she will receive an individualized, thorough assessment. This assessment becomes the basis for the development of a detailed and specific treatment plan that incorporates our individualized approach to treatment and recovery.

Partial Hospitalization Transition Program
Patients transition from the Intensive Residential Program when they are ready to make the transition back to their daily lives. Increased independence is the major difference in the partial hospitalization program. The general treatment structure does not change. Here, patients may begin part-time work or attend school while remaining connected to the treatment process. They also receive more frequent passes to go back to their home environments. This allows the individual to identify some of the potential problems that may hinder lasting recovery. Upon returning to Montecatini, patients are able to work through these problems with the staff, ultimately facilitating their transition to normal and productive lives.

Discharge Planning
Our discharge planning begins from time of admission, and is a vital part of our treatment modality. Throughout treatment, our goal is to identify and fix all of the factors that have led to the eating disorder and may lead to relapse once the patient is discharged. Hence a mindful, cautious, individual and gradual process characterizes discharge planning.

From the time of admission and throughout the treatment process, we maintain close communication with referring treatment providers if applicable. The purpose of this is two fold: one, it gives us greater insight and background when developing an individual’s treatment plan; two, it establishes a continuity of care at the time of discharge. If possible, we recommend follow up with referring providers. Should the individual choose not to follow up with the referring providers or did not have a pre-admission treatment team, we will work with each patient to establish a system of providers and support.

Online Continuing Care
Recovery from an eating disorder is a lifelong process, and clinical research verifies that Continuing Care is a vital aspect of that recovery. Continuing Care programs are structured support groups that meet once a week, and are designed to strengthen the treatment process by providing the therapeutic support necessary for long-term recovery.

CRC Health’s Online Eating Disorder Support Group is a Continuing Care program that provides world-wide accessibility through live, anonymous, online group sessions. The groups meet for one hour each week with an experienced counselor to discuss topics that enhance quality of life and prevent relapse. In their online groups, members give and receive support from others who can relate to the complex issues, stresses, and fears associated with the process of recovery.

The many advantages of being enrolled in an online program include the ability to engage in weekly group sessions from the comfort of your own home, while participating anonymously in a safe and supportive atmosphere. The Online Eating Disorder Support Group is a natural complement to existing therapeutic treatment recommendation, and enables members to work together.
